Today, in an entirely predictable move, I would like to honor women. Predictable because there is absolutely nothing else I would like to do right now. Every woman deserves empowerment, not just today, but every single moment of her life. Once again, kind of an obvious statement. But you know what? This actually is not obvious to so many people! Bigots, homophobes, and misogynists are still at large. Not only that, but they are the ones who feel empowered, because of the poor excuse for a human being that is in charge right now. No need to say his name. Not today.
Instead, I would like to honor all women, who identify as LGBT. In my own simple words, I wrote a poem while Obama was still in office (hence the words like “hope” and “change”). It saddens me that my poem is a little less relevant today. However, please consider it, if for no other reason than giving me the privilege to ponder lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and any identifying as in-between women.
One last time, Happy International Women’s Day! I also honor all straight allies, who are in solidarity with us today, female, male, and non-binary.
I love you all. Stay strong!
